Bridging Data and Justice: A Harvard Guest Lecture on Federal Sentencing Analysis

Last week, Sentencing Stats co-founders Mark Allenbaugh and Darren Kramer had the honor of guest lecturing in Professor and Retired Judge Nancy Gertner’s Federal Sentencing class at Harvard Law School. The session was an engaging deep dive into how qualitative and quantitative data can be harnessed to address inequities and disparities in Federal Sentencing.

Judge Gertner and the students were energized by the innovative approach, which showcased the power of big data analytics and technology to bring greater transparency and fairness to the justice system. The lecture highlighted both the challenges and opportunities that exist when we merge rigorous analysis with legal practice—a combination that promises to redefine how Federal Sentencing is understood and practiced.
